Notice To Teams Playing Earlston Rhymers Re Parking

24 Nov 2016 by Dan Lee

We have had a letter from residents who stay on the access road to the pitch used by Earlston Rhymers and we would like all teams who play against them to ask their parents and coaches to please park their cars so access is available to both the residents and any emergency vehicle that may have to use the road.

The residents have written to our Secretary Allan Archibald requesting that anyone parking their cars while at the games consider the residents who live near the venues where matches are played. I have copied part of their letter to let everyone see what their concerns are:-

“We live close to Earlston Rhymers ground in Earlston and since the youth team have been playing in the Edinburgh league we have been plagued by thoughtless parking by visiting parents to the extent that residents often cannot get in or out of their driveways. More significantly, it would be impossible for emergency vehicles to access our homes – and that could include an ambulance being unable to attend an injured player. We should add that we fully support youngsters being involved in sport and enjoy seeing them out playing with such enthusiasm. We don’t mind the shouting – or even the colourful language!

Perhaps you could remind parents and supporters to be mindful of local residents when attending venues."

We would ask all team secretaries if they could pass this information on when they play at Earlston Rhymers.
